CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic is looking for a Certified Nurse Midwife to join the Beeville clinic. The Nurse Midwife manages women's health care, focusing particularly on pregnancy, childbirth, the post partum period, care of the newborn, and the family planning and gynecologic needs of women. Provides direct prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum and/or well women patient services and primary care to low-to-moderate risk obstetrical and gynecological patients. Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
Responsibilities:
Assesses critical elements of the patient’s history, interprets test results, and institutes practice protocols with a high degree of independencePartners with physician colleagues to diagnose and manage patients using guidelines and approved standards of careLeads the health care team with expert advice to case managers, nurses, physicians, social workers, and other health care members as appropriateCommunicates findings and plan of care to physician and other members of the healthcare team through progress notes and verbal communicationInterprets and follows up on test results and response to treatments and medicationsEvaluates patients’ response to the plan of care, and revises the plan as needed, collaborating with a physician as requiredIdentifies patient/family educational needs and in collaboration with appropriate staff, provides patient/family educationActs as an advocate for the patient/family, encouraging participation in decision-making and careTracks clinical performance outcome dataPerforms advanced procedures for which competency has been verifiedAssess learning capabilities and readiness of population or individuals, and tailors education to meet age, developmental, and educational needsPrioritizes learning needs and documents them accordinglyEnsures that time frame and subject matter is appropriate for target audience/individualUtilizes appropriate teaching materials (handouts, audiovisuals, demonstration, etc.) and documents use and patient outcomeInitiates, designs, and completes educational programs for patients, families, and target audiencesCommunicates advanced knowledge and skills related to patients, families, and staff at the organizational, community, and national levelAdheres to agree upon format/protocol for documentation of recordsMaintains appropriate level of documentation to promote/support level of complexity when compared against/to service fee chargesDocuments telephone calls with patients and specialistsDocuments in concise, clear, logical, and legible mannerIdentifies the knowledge and skills needed through self-assessment, peer review, and supervisory reviewParticipates in a variety of educational activities in order to maintain and increase competencyMaintains licensure/certification
